Emergency Needs Clearing House.

This program is a computerized clearing house available to area churches and agencies. It maintains a database of people seeking assistance from churches and agencies, both to identify and prevent fraud and abuse, and to link individual needs to appropriate resources. Its purpose is to assist in making limited resources available to valid situations of need.

Emergency Housing Fund.

Provides one-time assistance (as funds are available) with rent or emergency housing to prevent eviction and homelessness. This program assists residents of all Hampton Roads cities.

Acute Needs Children Fund.

Provides discretionary assistance to situations involving children in crisis when other agencies and resources cannot help. Over the years it has provided school books and supplies, medical transportation, school meals, clothing, and in some cases, rent and utilities to prevent children from living on the streets. 

Discretionary Fund.

Provides assistance with prescriptions, transportation, medical care, housing – those valid unusual needs for which there is no other assistance. This program often supplements limited resources from churches and agencies.

Winter Blanket Program.

In partnership with a generous donor, this program provides free blankets to children during the winter months. It works in consultation with area schools, churches, and agencies, with a goal of assuring that every child has his/her own blanket.

Resident Activities Funds.

NUOM solicits and manages Activity Funds for each of our housing facilities. HUD does not allow rental funds to be used for resident activities and programs. These restricted fund are able to provide community events and activities that are unique to this type of housing.

Tax Deductible Contributions

Support of the programs listed above can be made to NUOM. Mail contributions for NUOM programs made out to NUOM with program of choice in memo block. Mail contributions to support the resident activity programs at our senior apartment complexes made out to facility name with “activity fund” in memo block to Norfolk Urban Outreach Ministry, 972 Norfolk Square, Norfolk, VA 23502. You will receive a letter acknowledging your donation.
